The Norris Adolescent Center Assessment & Stabilization services is targeted at residents where it has become difficult to assess needs.  A more structured environment that will include identified assessments and recommendations from the Norris clinicians for further treatment interventions.   This service can be a very effective tool in determining the best plan of actions for an adolescent in need.   This service runs for 30 to 60 days.   A staffing is set at the end of the assessment period.  This staffing will provide the placing agency with recommendations from the assessments for further treatment options.   The resident is then discharged from the Norris Adolescent Center on that staffing date.   The placing agency has the choice to utilize any of the Norris "Circle of Care" services or look elsewhere to meet the youth and family identified treatment areas.

Assessments available to utilize:

  • Psychiatric Assessment - Mental health diagnosis, medication evaluation, mental health care recommendations.
  • Psychological Assessment - Mental health diagnosis, mental health care recommendations, possible further testing in identified areas.
  • Neuropsychological Assessment-Specialized testing and recommendations.
  • Educational Assessment - Gathering school records, educational testing, educational recommendations
  • Group Living Assessment - Identifying strengths and weaknesses in daily living skill and peer interactions.
  • Family Assessment - Identifying families strengths and weaknesses, family history, recommendations for the family.
  • AODA Assessment - Determining substance abuse treatment needs and recommendations for services.
  • Sex Offender Assessment - Identifying the residents treatment needs in the area of sexuality and provide recommendations for services.
